Keyboard Track
Mostacousticinstrumentsgetbrighterasyouplay higher
pitches.Atitsmostbasic,keyboardtrackingre‐createsthis
effectbyraisingthelowpassfiltercutofffrequencyasyou
playhigheronthekeyboard.Usually,someamountofkey
trackingisnecessaryinordertomakethetimbreconsistent
acrosstheentirerange.
ThePS60keyboardtrackingcanalsobemuchmorecom‐
plex,sinceitallowsyoutocreatedifferentratesofchange
overuptofourdifferentpartsofthekeyboard.
How it works: Keys and Ramps
Thekeyboardtrackingworksbycreatingfourramps,or
slopes,betweenfivekeysonthekeyboard.Thebottomand
topkeysarefixedatthebottomandtopoftheMIDIrange,
respectively.Youcansettheotherthreekeys–namedKey
Low,Center,andKeyHigh–tobeanywhereinbetween.
ThefourRa
mpvaluescontroltherateofchangebetween
eachpairofkeys.Forinstance,iftheLoCent(Low‐Center)
Rampissetto0,thevaluewillstaythesamebetweenthe
KeyLowkeyandtheCenterkey.
TheKeyvaluewillbethebreakpoint,andtheslopeofthe
lowerandhigherregionsonthekeyboardisspecifiedbythe
Ramp.
AttheCenterkey(themainhinge),thekeyboardtracking
hasnoeffect.
Break Key
Low Key [C–1...G9]
Thisspecifiesthenoteatwhichthetwoslopedlinesinthe
lowerrangewillbeconnected.
Center Key [C–1...G9]
Thisspecifiesthenotethatwillbethebreakpointforthe
centerofkeyboardtracking.Atthiskey,thekeyboardtrack‐
inghasnoeffectonthefiltercutoff,oronanyAMSdestina‐
tions.
High Key [C–1...G9]
Thisspecifiesthenotewherethetwoslopedlinesinthe
upperrangewillbeconnected.
Intensity
Intensity to A [–99...+99]
Thiscontrolshowmuchthekeyboardtrackingwillaffect
FilterA’scutofffrequency.TheoveralleffectoftheKey‐
boardTrackisaperformanceofthisIntensityvalueandthe
overallKeyboardTrackshape.
Withpositivevalues(+),theeffectwillbeinthedirection
specifiedbykeyboardtracking;iftherampgoesup,thefil‐
tercutoffwillincrease.
Withnegativevalues(–),theeffectwillbeintheopposite
direction;iftherampgoesup,thefiltercutoffwilldecrease.

Ramp
Positiveramp valuesmeanthatthekeyboardtrackingout‐
putincreasesasyouplayfartherfromtheCenterKey;nega‐
tiverampvaluesmeanthatitdecreases.
Becauseofthis,themeaningsofpositiveandnegativeramp
settingswillchangedependingonwhethertherampisto
theleftorrightofth
eCenterKey.
