Camshaft Position Sensor Removal
•
Remove:
Fuel Tank (see Fuel Tank Removal in the Fuel System
(DFI) chapter)
Air Cleaner Housing (see Air Cleaner Housing Removal
in the Fuel System (DFI) chapter)
•
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor lead connector
[A].
•

Camshaft Position Sensor Installation
•
Replace the O-ring of the camshaft position sensor.
•
Apply grease to the new O-ring.
•
Tighten:
Torque - Camshaft Position Sensor Bolt: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m,
89 in·lb)
•
Route the camshaft position sensor lead correctly (see
Cable, Wire, and Hose Routing section in the Appendix
chapter).
Camshaft Position Sensor Inspectio n
•
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor lead connector
(see Camshaft Position Sensor Removal).
•
Set the hand tester to the × 10 Ω range and connect it to
the terminals.
Special Tool - Hand Tester: 57001-1394
Camshaft Position Sensor Resistance: 400 ∼ 460 Ω
If there is more resistance than the specified value, the
sensor coil has an open lead and m ust be replaced. Much
less than this resistance means the sensor coil is shorted,
and must be replaced.
•
Using the highest resistance range of the tester, mea-
sure the resistance between the camshaft position sensor
leads and chassis ground.
Any tester reading less than infinity (∞) indicates a short,
necessitating replacement of the camshaft position sen-
sor.
