Table 5-4 lists the network problems that may occur, and the actions you can
take to correct them.

Job does not print. Job does not print from remote host.
Make sure that all network connections
are secure.
Print the Network Interface Card (NIC)
configuration page to determine
whether there is a network
configuration error. To print the
configuration page, turn off power,
disconnect the network cable, and
turn power back on.
Verify network settings, such as the
IP address, Gateway address,
Subnet Mask, printer server name,
remote printer name, and frame
types.
Set NIC Personality to Auto Sense.
“NIC Fails to Init”
message prints on
the configuration
page.
The NIC fails to initialize when the
machine is turned on.
Make sure that the NIC is firmly
connected to the machine’s
controller.
When the NIC fails consistently, it
may be damaged. Replace the NIC.
“NIC hang up”
message prints on
the configuration
page.
The NIC is no longer active.
An unrecoverable error has occurred.
Turn the power off and back on.
