Yes, but only on additional time. ere are two
free rmware upgrades currently in development.
You do not need to send your watch in for both
upgrades, only one or the other.
Firmware Version 2.0 (released January, 2014)

If you upgraded to rmware version 2.0, this
upgrade can be achieved between the Bluetooth
connection through the Proximity App v2.5.
If you skipped rmware version 2.0, you will
need to send your watch to Citizen for rmware
upgrading.

watch?
If you continue to use iOS5 or iOS6, rmware
upgrading is not required to maintain Bluetooth®
functionality.
If you upgrade to iOS7 or higher, or purchase a new
iPhone® with iOS 7 or higher installed, the rmware
in your Proximity watch must be upgraded to
maintain Bluetooth® functionality between your
watch and iPhone®.
Even if you choose not to upgrade the rmware
in your Proximity watch, only the Bluetooth
functionality is aected. Other features such as the
time, chronograph and calendar will operate.
