Grounding Instructions
Electricbedsareequippedwiththreeprong(grounding)plugsforprotectionagainst
possibleshockhazards.Whereatwoprongwallreceptacleisencountered,itisthe
personalresponsibilityandobligationofthecustomertocontactaqualifiedelectrician
andhavethetwoprongreceptaclereplacedwithaproperlygroundedthreeprongwall
receptacleinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricalCode.Ifyoumustuseanextension
cord,useonlyathreewireextensioncordhavingthesameorhigherelectricalratingas
thedevicebeingconnected.DONOT,underanycircumstances,cutorremovetheround
groundingprongfromanyplug
usedwithorforInvacareproducts.Inaddition,Invacare
hasplacedREDwarningtagsonsomeequipment.DONOTremovethesetags.
Forpropergrounding,junctionboxMUSTbesecurelyconnectedtothebedwithmetal
screwsandthespacerprovidedorelectricalshockcouldoccur.
Radio Frequency Interference
ElectronicequipmentmaybeinfluencedbyRadioFrequencyInterference(RFI).Caution
shouldbeexercisedwithregardtotheuseofportablecommunicationsequipmentinthe
areaaroundsuchequipment.IfRFIcauseserraticbehavior,unplugtheelectricbed
immediately.Leaveunpluggedwhiletransmissionisinprogress.
Weight Limitations
ThetotalweightlimitoftheBariatricBed(includingaccessories,mattress,occupantand
anyotherobjectspositionedonthebed)is750pounds(340kg);675pounds(308kg)
patientweight.
NEVERpermitmorethanonepersonontheelectricbedatanytime.
Bodyweightshouldbeevenlydistributedoverthesurfaceofthemanual/electricbed.DO
NOTlay,sitorleaninsuchawaythatyourentirebodyweightisplacedonlyonraised
headorfootsectionsofthebed.Thisincludeswhenrepositioningortransferringinorout
ofbed.
