STEP 4: FOOT PAD/CONNECTING ARM ASSEMBLY. Rear shroud installation.
1. Remove the hardware from the hardware pack for step 4. You should have two 5/16 x
1-1/4 bolts (79), two flat washers (100), two nylon nuts (91), four 5/16 x 3/4 bolts (80),
two self-tapping Phillips head screws (107) and twenty-six M5 x 12mm screws (84).
2. On the pedal arms, in the middle on top, there are two axles (23) already installed in the
bushing housings. Remove the bolt and washer (74, 99) from each then remove the axles
and set them aside for the next steps.
3. Locate the left foot pad/connecting arm. Holding the rear of the footpad with your right
hand, and the connecting arm with your left hand (just in front of the foot pad), place the
footpad bracket over the bushing housing.
4. Holding the axle (removed in step 2) in one hand and the foot pad in the other line up the
large hole in the side of the bracket (under the foot pad) with the hole in the bushing
housing and insert the axle all the way until the head of the axle is flush against the
bracket. You may have to wiggle the axle while moving the footpad slightly to get the axle
to go in. Install and tighten the bolt and washer (74, 99) removed in step two.
5. Align the hole in the end of the connecting arm (pivoting rod end) with the hole in the
bracket of the handle bar. The rod end should be on the inside of the handle bar bracket.
Take one of the 5/16 x 1-1/4 bolts (79) and install it through the handle bar bracket and
the rod end. Install a flat washer (100) and nylon nut (91) on the bolt and tighten firmly
using a wrench on the nut and one on the bolt.
6. Repeat steps 3 5 for the right side foot pad/connecting arm.
7. Install the plastic covers (71, 72) over the connection of the rod end and handle bar. The
front inside hole in the plastic uses a self-tapping screw (DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THIS
SCREW) and the two rear holes use the M5 x 12mm screws (84). There is a short Phillips
screwdriver provided for installing the inside screws.
8. Install the two wheel covers (64) using four M5 X 12mm screws (84).
9. Install the two middle stabilizer covers (116, 117) using two M5 x 12mm screws (84).
10. Rear shroud (steel cover) installation. Unpack the rear shrouds and remove the 12
screws (84) holding the four front caps (152, 153) to the left and right shrouds (150, 151).
11. Locate and install the four L shaped brackets (149) on the rear stabilizer tube using eight
M5 x 12mm screws (84).
12. Locate and install the two middle mounting brackets (148). These two brackets install
from beneath the left and right aluminium rails and are held in place by 5/16 x 3/4 bolts
(80). There are holes in the center of the aluminium rails where the hole in the brackets
line up and the bolts go through.
13. Install the shrouds by lifting the pedal arm and carefully sliding the shroud over the
covered wheels of the pedal arms. Lower the pedal arms until the wheels are resting on
the aluminium rails again. Position the shroud so the holes in the mounting brackets (148,
149) line up with the mounting holes in the shroud. Install and tighten the eight M5 x
12mm screws (84) that hold the shrouds in place.
14. Locate the two front retaining brackets (24) and install them from beneath the rails, just in
front of the aluminium rail. These retaining brackets should line up with the brackets (147)
that are pre-installed in the front of the shrouds. Line up the holes in the brackets and
install the 5/16 x 3/4 bolts (80) from the top. It is easiest for installation if the pedal arm is
rotated so it is at the top of the stroke, giving you freer access to these bolts.
15. Re-install the four front caps (152, 153) that were removed in step 10.
