ETWORK QUESTIONS / TIPS
The connection is lost after a
few minutes:
This is a system-based
characteristic of the UPnP
standard. Active communication
starts on a port with a number
higher than 1024 and then changes
regularly during operation. Not all
firewall programs recognise this
knocking on different doors as a
continuous connection. Depending
on the configuration, the firewall
may decide against an unknown
client in case of doubt.
Depending on the firewall software,
this can be resolved through the
following actions:
• By using a fixed IP and without
DHCP, define the MMM as a so-
called Trusted Host, i.e. a device
from which all communication is
considered to be trustworthy.
• Allow the server to accept
incoming and outgoing
communication with the MMM
over ports 1024 - 65535.
Activate the exception setting for
"UPnP Framework", e.g. Windows
XP Firewall or activate "Permit
UPnP communication".
