Storage-System Hardware
The storage systems attach to the server and the interconnect
components as described in Chapter 1. To review the installation
types:
• Unshared direct, with one server, is the simplest and least costly;
• Shared-or-clustered direct, with a limit of two servers, lets two
servers share storage resources with high availability; and
• Shared switched, which has two switch fabrics, lets two to 15
servers share the resources of several storage systems in a storage
area network (SAN).
For FC4700 storage systems, at least one network connection is
required.
