To change the illumination duration
In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down 1. A until the seconds start to fl ash. This is
the setting mode.
Press 2. C nine times so the illumination duration setting mode is on the display.
Press 3. D to toggle the illumination duration between 1.5 seconds (
) and
3 seconds (
).
After the settings are the way you want, press 4. A to exit the setting mode.
Illumination Precautions
Illumination may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunlight.
Illumination turns off automatically whenever an alarm sounds.
Frequent use of illumination runs down the battery.

Illumination
The face of the watch is illuminated for easy reading in
the dark.
To turn on illumination
In any mode (except when a setting mode, with fl ashing
digits is on the display), press B to illuminate the display.
You can use the procedure below to select either x
1.5 seconds or 3 seconds as the illumination duration.
When you press B, the display will remain illuminated
for about 1.5 seconds or 3 seconds, depending on the
current illumination duration setting.

If you need to advance the analog time setting a long way, hold down x D until
the time starts advancing at high speed, and then press B. This locks the high-
speed hand movement, so you can release the two buttons. High-speed hand
movement continues until you press any button. It will also stop automatically
after the time advances 12 hours or if an alarm (daily alarm, Hourly Time Signal,
or countdown beeper) starts to sound.
Press 4. A to exit the setting mode.
The watch will automatically adjust the minute hand slightly to match its internal
x
second count when you exit the setting mode.
To return to the Timekeeping Mode, press x C.

Adjusting the Analog Hand Setting
Use the following procedure to adjust the analog hands so their settings match the
digital time.
To adjust the analog time
Use 1. C to select the Hand Setting Mode as shown on
page E-11.
Hold down 2. A until the current digital time starts to
ash, which indicates the analog setting mode.
Press 3. D to advance the analog time setting by
20 seconds.
Holding down x D advances the analog time setting
at high speed.

Press 5. A to exit the setting mode.
To test the alarm
In the Alarm Mode, hold down D to sound the alarm.
To turn an alarm and the Hourly Time Signal on and off
In the Alarm Mode, use 1. D to select an alarm or the
Hourly Time Signal.
When the alarm or the Hourly Time Signal you want is 2.
selected, press A to toggle it between on and off.
The alarm on indicator (when any alarm is on), snooze x
alarm indicator (when the snooze alarm is on), and the
Hourly Time Signal on indicator (when the Hourly Time
Signal is on) are shown on the display in all modes.
To stop the alarm
Press any button.

To set an alarm time
In the Alarm Mode, use 1. D to scroll through the alarm
screens until the one whose time you want to set is
displayed.

Hold down 2. A for about two seconds until the alarm time starts to fl ash. This is
the setting mode.
Press 3. C to move the fl ashing between the hour and minute settings.
While a setting is fl ashing, use 4. D (+) and B (–) to change it.
When setting the alarm time using the 12-hour format, take care to set the time
x
correctly as a.m. (no indicator) or p.m. (P indicator).

To enter the Alarm Mode
Use C to select the Alarm Mode as shown on page E-11.
The snooze alarm screen is indicated by
x SNZ, while the other alarm screens are
numbered AL1 through AL4. The Hourly Time Signal screen is indicated by SIG.
When you enter the Alarm Mode, the data you were viewing when you last exited
x
the mode appears fi rst.

Using the Alarm
You can set fi ve independent daily alarms. When a
daily alarm is turned on, an alarm tone will sound
for about 20 seconds each day when the time in the
Timekeeping Mode reaches the preset alarm time.
This is true even if the watch is not in the Timekeeping
Mode. One of the alarms is a snooze alarm, while the
other four are one-time alarms. The snooze alarm
operation repeats every fi ve minutes.
You can also turn on an Hourly Time Signal, which will
cause the watch to beep twice every hour on the hour.

Note
The Stopwatch Mode can indicate elapsed time up to 59 minutes, 59 seconds.

Once started, stopwatch timing continues until you press x D to stop it, even if
you exit the Stopwatch Mode to another mode and even if timing reaches the
stopwatch limit defi ned above.
Exiting the Stopwatch Mode while a split time is frozen on the display clears the
x
split time and returns to elapsed time measurement.
