My treadmill jerks and stops for half a second eve...

My treadmill jerks and stops for half a second every time I take a step, I only weigh 160# so I'm well within the weight limitations of the machine. How can I fix this issue? I have the Pro-Form Model No. 831.299412

0 The manual isn't going to tell me what causes the machine to jerk suddenly. can anyone tell me the cause of something like that? the motor or the belt?
