Walking and running on treadmill the belt sticks…

for ProForm Treadmill XP 542s 831.295050

Walking and running on treadmill the belt sticks/hesitates while on treadmill. I tried tightning belt as stated in the manual turning 1/2 turns clockwise equally making sure belt stays centered. It seems to be getting worse. sears wants $96 for site visit. Is the motor going bad? Treadmill is old and don't know if worth fixinng.
