I have a Triump 7.3t treadmill - why am I smelling...

I have a Triump 7.3t treadmill - why am I smelling a burnt smell after I walked 35 min. at 4.0 speed? Is the motor burning out, or do I need to have it on a cement surface? It is on carpet right now.
