whether set at 1 or 10 the resistance is the same. what could cause this?

4 You should be able to hear the motor turn for a few seconds at each resistance setting. If not, then motor is probably bad. If you hear the motor, then adjustment may be required in the small tensioned cable the motor operates. It can stretch. You need to have that end of the magnet about 1/4in. from the flywheel on max resistance setting. Adjust the pair off nuts accordingly. To do this, you must remove all shields starting with the snap rings on the crank arms.

2 My NordicTrack CXT930 resistance setting does not work manually or in program mode. Very perturbed...not a lot of hours on this machine.

0 I have the same problem on my Nordic Track CXT910. I haven't been able to pinpoint the problem for sure, but it's likely due to 1) a bad resistance motor or 2) a bad control panel or 3) worn out wiring/ wiring harness between the resistance motor and control panel. If anyone knows of a test procedure to test the control panel, please post it!

0 Thanks. My hunch is #1, the bad motor as the panel seems to work OK and I unplugged and replugged the harness connections. Unfortunately I suspect $$$$ to evaluate service and repair...probably approaching a high % of the cost of the machine.

0 If you want to do some more diagnostics, Treadmillpartszone.com had posted the following test procedure to check a resistance motor: "Do you know how to check your old motor to see if it is good. I use a 12 volt battery, like a lantern style. You must disconnect the resistance motor at the wiring connection, you put two jumper cables on the 12 volt battery one on the positive and one on the negative. Then connect positive to the yellow wire on the harness and connect the negative to the blue wire on the harness. You may need to cut a paper clip to use it to stick into the harness holes. They are very small. This is a 2 SECOND TEST ONLY, DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERY CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. BECAUSE IT WILL DESTROY THE RESISTANCE MOTOR IF YOU LEAVE IT ON TO LONG. As soon as you make the connection the motor should start to turn, if it does not its bad. " I tried the test using two D-cell batteries instead, and my motor does turn. Funny thing is that when I test the voltage coming from the control panel to the motor, it reads about 6V when the wires are disconnected from the resistance motor. But once the wires are connected to the motor, the voltage drops to 0.5V! So I don't know what this means.

0 The resistance motor on my CXT 910 doesn't budge when the tension levels on the panel change. But if I apply power directly to the motor, then it will move. If I could swap in a known good motor, I could be sure that it was a motor or panel problem, but otherwise, I don't know how to test for sure.
