Meter is resetting it self

for Accusplit Fitness Electronics AE1640M4

My accusplite meter recently has been reseting back to zero and walking one or two days. I have been walking 7 days before manually resting for the next week. Is there some thing wrong with the meter or do I just need a new battery? The screen is bright and clear. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Gene slv40@verizon.net
