Variable Exhaust System (V.E.S.)
Mainte nanc e of the V.E.S. is limited to a pe r iodic inspection and
clea ning of system c ompone nts. Every 1000 to 2000 miles, br ing the
machine to a n a uthorized Polaris dealer to have the V.E.S.
disassembled, inspected, and cleaned.
NOTE: To ensure maximum perf orma nc e and minimize re quire d
maintena nc e, follow the oil rec omme ndation char t on pa ge 77. T he
use of other lubricants may cause improper func tion of t he valve mech-
anism and increase the freque nc y of r e quire d clean ing due to exc e ssive
build-up of carbon deposits.
Water Pump Belt Inspection
Some liquid cooled models
require inspection of the
water pump belt at 1500
miles (2400 km). Inspect
belt width (A) and
condition, and replace if
cracked or worn past the
width service limit (. 250″ /
6.35mm). New belt width
is approximately .345″
(8.75 mm). See your
Polaris dealer if the belt
needs to be replaced.
