  I have the manual that says e:1 means it will not decline. Do we know how to fix it or clear it? I have the 500 series.

  pull the safety key;
  hold the up and down incline/decline together;
  while holding put key in, it should say "calibration":
  push start and wait till it goes through cycle;
  I had to do this two or three times then I pulled the key to restart the machine.
  this was on the 500 series should work on others.

  you can also reset the error by holding the + and - (speed) keys when putting on the magnet, use up/down to cylce through options, hit reset when on errors.
  Note: I have not had this error at all after applying WD-40 to the worm drive screw for the elevation.
